How to Sell Serialized Gift Card at the POS?

Serialized gift cards are gift cards that have a unique identification number or code assigned to each card. This serial number helps track and manage each card individually. 

 

Benefits of Selling Gift Cards:

  1. Increased Revenue: Gift cards can boost sales by bringing in money upfront, often leading to additional purchases when the card is redeemed.
  2. Customer Attraction and Retention: They attract new customers and encourage repeat business from existing ones.
  3. Enhanced Cash Flow: Gift card sales improve cash flow by providing immediate funds that can be used for operational needs.
  4. Promotional Opportunities: They offer a way to promote your business through special offers, seasonal designs, and marketing campaigns.
  5. Reduced Refunds and Returns: Gift cards can minimize returns and refunds as they provide a flexible purchasing option.
  6. Brand Exposure: Customers often give gift cards as presents, which helps increase brand visibility and attract new potential customers.
     

Steps to Sell Serialized Gift Cards:

Section I: Create a Serialized Gift Card product in the Back Office.

  1. Go to the Back Office and select PIM.
  2. Click Add Product.
  3. Complete the required fields in the product card. For the Code, you can leave it set to automatic, and the Back Office will assign a code, or enter your preferred product code. Specify a pre-defined amount for the gift card, or leave it at zero so you can enter the amount when selling it at the POS.
  4. Under Product Info, ensure to check the box for "This product is a serial numbered gift card." You may also select other relevant fields if needed.
  5. Click Save in the upper right corner to create the serialized gift card product.
     


 

Section II: Sell the Serialized Gift Card at the POS

  1. At the POS, search for the serialized gift card product. If you have a predefined serial number, it will prompt you to scan it, or you can choose to generate a random serial number.
  2. Click Save.
  3. If you set the price to zero when creating the product, you will be prompted to enter the gift card amount.
  4. Proceed to the payment window by clicking the Pay button and complete the transaction. After the transaction is finished, the sold gift card will appear in the Back Office under Retail --> Gift Card.
