Why do I need to lock my Chrome version?
Berlin PoS is a reliable piece of PoS software. It has been running for many years and we have determined that it works best on a certain Chrome version. We need to remove the current version of chrome and install the older release version of the browser.
How to remove the current version?
How to remove current version?
- Open windows search and type: "Add or remove programs"
- Open the application.
- In the application search bar type: "Chrome" and click on the uninstall button.
- The uninstall wizard will guide you forward.
How to Install Chrome 79?
- Download the installer of Chrome 79:
- Chrome79.exe (32bit)
- Chrome79.exe (64bit)
- Open the installer
- Installer will guide you through the steps on how to install the browser.
How to stop auto updates on Chrome browser?
- Open the “Run” command by searching “Run” from the Cortana or pressing the “Win + R” keys on the keyboard. Type “services.msc” and click “Ok”. This will open services manager window.

- Alternatively, type “control” on the Windows and select the “Control Panel”, select “System and Security” and scroll down then click on “Administrative Tools”.
- Double click on “Services” to open the service manager screen.
- Look for “Google Update (gupdate)” and “Google Update (gupdatem)” on the list.
- Double click on both (each at a time) and on the “General” tab under “Startup Type” choose “Disabled” option then click ok.
- Restart the PC.
