Age Verification

August 16, 2023

Erply has an available feature that checks and documents your customer’s age in every sale at your Point of Sale interface.

Setting the Age Verification Option

Check your current POS version:
Berlin POS - POS version starts with 3
Brazil POS - POS version start with 4

If version is on Berlin POS:
Reach out to Erply Support (support@erply.com) for plugin installation request. Requests usually take 48 hours at most to be completed from the time they are raised.
Once completed, you should be able to see the feature pop up whenever you complete a payment

If version is on Brazil POS:
Navigate to POS Settings -> Configuration -> Sale -> Use age verification
Don't forget to Save your settings.

This feature has a Skip Button available in every sale. If you want this verification process to be mandated, you can have this button removed. To remove the Skip Button, go back to Settings, and choose Configuration. Under User Interface, click on the arrow beside Age Verification

How It Works

When you click on the Pay button, a pop up window opens. In the form, you will need to specify your customer’s date of birth. After putting in customer’s date of birth, age would be highlighted:

  • Green Color, age confirmed
  • Red Color, age not yet reached
  • Blue Color, age is under 50 years old

Take note that the Age Verification feature would take effect on the following transactions:

  • Sales
  • Save as Order
  • Save as Layaway

But not on the following:

  • Save Sale
  • Save as Offer

This action would be saved in the Payment Attributes:

  1. To access it, go to the Back Office interface. Choose on the Sales tab, and click Invoices
  2. Choose on any of the receipts you want to check, click on “...” button or “More Actions” or press F4, and choose Attributes:
    • If Age Verification was used, customer's date of birth will show under Value
    • If Age Verification was skipped, the term “Skipped” will show under Value

Note: This feature does not prohibit the sale if age requirement is not met. The decision to continue with the sale is still on the cashier.
