WMS In-Transit warehouse

October 23, 2023

In-Transit warehouse allows keeping track of goods that are being moved between warehouses.

If you are interested in this extra feature, please get in touch with our customer support at support@erply.com who will enable this on your account.
Please note that this is a paid feature.

Erply backoffice

As a first step, a new warehouse should be created in Erply. It would be good to name the warehouse "In-Transit" or something similar so users can easily understand the purpose of the warehouse.
In the Erplys backoffice -> Inventory transfers module, there are two new columns, "Source warehouse" and "Destination warehouse".
If Inventory transfer is created from inventory transfer order in the backoffice, then the warehouse in column To will be "In-Transit warehouse". Related warehouse movements are added to the warehouse movements view.

WMS

In the WMS settings, this "In-Transit" warehouse can be chosen. That is where the goods will go during transit.

Products out

Products out -> sender selects the Inventory transfer order and if the In-Transit warehouse is configured in the settings.
Then Inventory transfer from the Source warehouse to In-Transit is performed automatically after the confirmation of the document.

  1. Sign in to wms.erply.com and select the location where the Inventory Transfer Order is coming from.
  2. Click Products Out, select the Inventory Transfer Order, enter the transfer order number and click “Start Issuing”.
  3. Scan the products and confirm.

This is what it looks like in the Back Office after you use the Product Out in WMS. The “To” column will be changed to In-Transit and “Destination Warehouse” is location where it will be transferred.

Products In

  1. Sign in to wms.erply.com and select the location where the Inventory Transfer Order is transferred to.
  2. Click Products In, select the In-Transit Inventory Transfer Order, click the check mark next to the inventory transfer order that you want to receive.
  3. Scan the products and confirm.

Differences after scanning

Suppose the destination warehouse receives less or more goods than on inventory transfer order. In that case, the quantitative differences will remain in the In-Transit warehouse.
Discrepancies report is sent about differences in items scanned.
If the inventory transfer to the In-transit warehouse was made 5 workdays days ago and the post-Inventory transfers (In-transit-> destination warehouse) have not been made or there are fewer goods.
Discrepancies report will be sent to the warehouse email address that initiated the transfer of goods.
They should check their inventories and adjust the In-transit warehouse accordingly.
Ideally, the In-Transit warehouse inventory stock should be 0.
Inventory transfer orders can only be handled one at a time.
In-transit report email service is set up to send a report once a day 06:00, during workdays (Monday-Friday).

If discrepancies report email needs configuring, please get in touch with our customer support at support@erply.com who will forward it to the WMS team.
