TSYS - Configuring POS and E285 / P400 device to Use Hostname for POS Communication instead of IP Address
This article outlines the process of utilizing the e285's unique device ID to replace the function of Static IP address to communicate with the register.
Benefits of this configuration :
- Since hostname is a unique identifier of the device - this guarantees no miscommunication if you have multiple registers and terminals at the store
- No IP address change issues in the future
- No reconfiguration needed when you switched network devices like router, modem, access point, switch, etc.
- No need to manually assign static IP address to each card terminals
To set this up :
1. Ensure your terminal device is connected to the internet and both POS and the card reader are connected to the same network
2. While at the card reader's main screen, press 000
3. Enter the admin password 9416557
4. While at the Admin Information overview page, take note of the hostname (some versions of the device might show cloud device ID - this is the same as hostname)
5. Go to the POS
6. Navigate to Settings
7. Select Payment Configuration.
8. In the device IP field: put the hostname followed by “.cedevice.io” (eg bponhu.cedevice.io)
9. Ensure that all required fields are filled up (Merchant Key, Merchant Side ID, Merchant Name)
10. hit Save
