Product Setup
Flax Enterprise Configuration App · Process guide
Product settings control which products can be sold, how they are scanned and searched, and what extra product information the POS shows. Most are account-level settings in General settings > Products, saved with Save; a few are set per role in Role Settings > Products.
Available products

General settings > Products: Available products and Product scanning
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Products available for sale (product status) | Which product statuses can be sold. Active is always included; tick No longer ordered to sell those products too |
| Assortments | Restricts product search, product entry and gift card lookups to each location's assigned assortment instead of the full catalog |
| Hide product in these groups | Hides products in the selected product groups from POS search results. They can still be sold by scanning or entering their product code |
| Hidden product groups / Add product group | The product groups hidden by the setting above |
Product scanning

General settings > Products: Product scanning and Scan sounds
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Use product code for scanning | Scans match the product code instead of the default EAN/UPC |
| Use stacking for scanning products | Scanning an item already in the cart increases its quantity instead of adding a new row |
| Block sale with a full-screen alert when a scanned product is not found | A code that matches no product shows a full-screen alert that blocks the sale until the cashier dismisses it with ESC |
| WASM cart sync delay | Delay applied to cart synchronization. The app gives no description or unit; confirm with the product team before changing it |
| Scan sounds | Plays a sound for each scan outcome |
| Product scan (successful) | Sound played when a scanned code matches a product. Choose from library or upload a custom sound; the play button previews it |
| Failed scan | Sound played when a scanned code matches nothing. Same options as above |
Product search

General settings > Products: Product search and Serial numbers
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Search stock from all locations | Stock checks (the search table's stock column and the In-stock filter) use all locations. When off, they use only the current location. If Use only selected warehouses is on, only the selected warehouses are used |
| Use only selected warehouses for stock check / Selected warehouses | Limits stock checks to the warehouses selected. Stock in all other warehouses is excluded |
| Apply In-Stock filter by default in product search | The In-stock filter is already applied when product search opens |
| Display stock column in product search table | Adds a stock column to the product search results |
| Enable multi-select in product search | Lets the cashier select several products at once in the product search window |
| Change product search from exact code to partial code match | Code searches return partial matches instead of exact matches only |
| Configure product units for products that need weighing | The units of measure whose products are weighed at the POS |
Role-level, in Role Settings > Products:

Role Settings > Products: weighing and product search columns
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Info displayed in product search | Columns shown in product search for this role: Code, Product name, Supplier, Category, Amount, Price, EAN / UPC, Brand, Priority Group, Type, Cost |
| Tare S/M and Tare L | Tare values for the buttons in the product weighing window. Set 0 to hide that button |
Serial numbers
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Set length range for serial numbers | Serial numbers must be between the minimum and maximum length. The maximum cannot be less than the minimum. Set a field to 0 to skip that check |
| Set exact length for serial numbers | Serial numbers must be exactly this length |
| Serial number label name | Label used for serial numbers at the POS. Defaults to Serial Number when empty |
Extra product fields

General settings > Products: Additional filters and fields
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Additional filters in product search | Adds filters to product search for Description, Supplier code, Code 5, Code 6, Code 7 and Code 8. Each has an optional Custom label shown at the POS |
| Additional fields in product details | Shows extra fields in the product details window: Supplier code, Code 5, Code 6, Code 7, Code 8 and Cost. Each has an optional Custom label |
Product information popups and alerts

General settings > Products: Display additional product information and Extra features
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Show popup of product description when adding it to cart | Shows the product's description in a popup when it is added to the cart |
| Display product attributes | Adds product attributes as custom fields under product details. For each, enter the Attribute name and the Attribute display name shown at the POS. Use Add new for more, the trash icon to remove |
| Display custom alerts based on product attributes | Shows an alert when a product with the named attribute is added. For each, enter the Attribute name and the Alert text |
The description popup and the attribute alerts are not shown when products are added with the Quick Keys side menu button or with multi-select.
Extra features
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enable cross-selling items | Suggests cross-selling items when products are added in the regular sale flow by scanning or product search. Does not work for returns, for products added from the Quick Keys side menu button, or for multi-select |
| Manual price entry name | Applies only to products that already require manual price entry. The cashier must also enter a name for the line item, which then replaces the product's default name on the cart, receipt and sale record |
