Payments & Tenders
Flax Enterprise Configuration App · Process guide
Payment settings span all four levels: the payment window and currencies for the account, allowed tenders per role, cash rounding per location, and card signatures per register.
Payment window
General settings > Payments, saved with Save.

General settings > Payments
| Section | Setting | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Confirm payment | Customer must confirm the payment on Customer Display | The customer confirms the payment on the customer-facing display before it completes |
| Tender types | Disable preselected tender | No tender is preselected; the cashier must explicitly choose one to continue with checkout |
| Tender types | Use CARD as default tab | The payment window opens on the card tab. By default it opens on the cash tab |
| Visibility | Show Back to cart button | Shows a button in the payment window to return to the cart |
| Visibility | Hide on-screen number pad in payment window | Hides the number pad. The active payment shows straight away (0.00) and fills in as the amount is typed on the keyboard or numpad. Intended for registers with a physical keyboard |
| Visibility | Show change due amount in the cart view after a sale | Shows the change due in the cart totals row after a sale. Cleared when a new sale starts or any cart action is made |
| After-Payment Screen | Show after-payment screen | Shows a screen after each completed sale that the cashier must interact with before continuing |
| Change | Allow cash change in other currencies | Lets change be given in another currency. When the customer pays in cash and change is due, the change is recorded as a negative payment |
When Show after-payment screen is off:
- The POS returns straight to the cart after payment. Pressing Enter prints the receipt for the sale just completed, until the next product is scanned or added, which starts a new sale.
- Auto logout after finishing sale and Automatic printing after a sale do not work.
- The after-payment screen still appears when a sale creates more than one document, such as an exchange.
Role-level, in Role Settings > Payments:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enable auto-decimal input when tendering | Amounts typed in the payment window are entered with the decimal point placed automatically |
Currencies
General settings > General > Currency, saved with Save.

General settings > General: Currency
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Your account default currency | The primary currency for POS transactions. Shown here for reference; it is changed in the Back Office |
| Add other additional currencies | Extra currencies accepted at the POS. Only currencies already set up in the Back Office can be selected. If one is missing, add it in the Back Office, then click Clear Cache & Reload |
Allowed tenders by role
Role Settings > Payments. Choose the role in Configure role, then save with Save Configuration.

Role Settings > Payments

Role Settings > Payments: Allowed tenders on sale and on return with receipt

Role Settings > Payments: Allowed tenders on return without receipt and on sales orders
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enable custom payment types / Configure the custom payment types | Lets the role use custom payment types, and sets which ones |
| Allowed tenders on sale | Tenders the role can accept on a sale |
| Allowed tenders on return with receipt | Tenders the role can refund to on a referenced return |
| Allowed tenders on return without receipt | Tenders the role can refund to on an unreferenced return |
| Allowed tenders on sales orders | Tenders the role can accept on a sales order |
Each allowed-tenders list has a row for every tender type: by wire transfer, in cash, by card, by credit invoice, with gift card and with check.
| Column | What it does |
|---|---|
| Type (checkbox) | Allows the tender for this role and flow |
| Limit | Maximum amount that can be taken with this tender |
| Payment Number (require) | The cashier must enter a payment number, such as a check or transfer number |
| ID Number (require) | The cashier must record the customer's ID number |
| Signature (require) | The customer must sign |
| Internal Note | Internal note for the tender |
Some requirements are not available for every tender and appear greyed out.
Enable original tender flow (return with receipt only): refunds go back to the tenders used on the original sale. With Sale original tenders ticked, the individual tender rows below it are greyed out.
Cash rounding
Location-level, in Locations & Devices > Location Settings > Payments. Choose the location in Configure location, then save with Save Configuration.

Location Settings > Payments: Rounding
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Use cash rounding | Rounds cash payments at this location |
| Round cash payments to nearest x cents | Rounding step in cents, for example 5 |
| using algorithm | How amounts are rounded, for example Half up |
| Example price / Direction / Calculate / Example result | Test calculator. Enter a price, choose Sale or Return as the direction and click Calculate to see the rounded result |
Card signatures
Register-level, in Locations & Devices > Register Settings > Payments. Choose the register in Configure register, then save with Save Configuration.

Register Settings > Payments
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Credit card payments | Prompts for a separate signature on the Customer Display for every credit card payment. Works only with TriPOS. Debit cards do not trigger the prompt |
| NetSuite customer attribute (ns_requires_signature) | Requires a signature when the customer has the NetSuite flag on their record and either pays with one of the configured payment methods or makes an Account sale (unpaid invoice-waybill). The flag is the NetSuite field [AM] Requires Signatures (custentity_am_requires_signature), synced to Erply as the customer attribute ns_requires_signature. This flow with Account Sales does not require payment |
Card provider, fallback, manual card entry and external slip printing are in Registers & POS Devices.
